I hold a copyediting certificate from UC San Diego, which I earned by completing an intensive 40-week copyediting course.
I am also a member of the Editorial Freelancer’s Association (EFA). They offer courses and educational webinars, so I am able to stay up-to-date and consistently expand my editing knowledge.

I currently have two options to choose from, depending on what works best for you.
50/50: 50% of the total amount due before edits begin, and the remaining 50% due before I return the edited manuscript.
Equal Monthly Payments: The total amount is split into equal monthly payments, spanning from the date of contract signing to the project’s end date.
For either option, a nonrefundable booking fee of $100 is required upfront to reserve the calendar space. This fee goes toward the total service cost.
Please note: I am always willing to discuss further to find something that works for you.

There are a lot of factors that determine the turnaround time, so I cannot provide a blanket answer.
Once I perform a sample edit on your work, I will be able to provide a turnaround estimate.
-
My preferred file formats are .docx and .pdf (proofreading only).
I perform my edits on Microsoft Word with Track Changes activated. For proofreading, I can work on either a Word file or a PDF.
Note on Google Docs: I do not perform edits on Google Docs. If this is the processor you use, I ask that you convert it to a .docx file before sending it to me. If the formatting of the document arrives corrupted, it may affect the service price and/or turnaround time. The final files will be delivered to you in .docx format.

I follow the standards laid out in the Chicago Manual of Style for the most part.
That being said, some rules are meant to be broken—especially in fiction writing. It is your book, and your authorial style outranks guidelines.

One of my core values as a business owner is clear and consistent communication. I never want to leave you wondering “So, what’s next?”
When you first reach out about my services, we will talk a few times to iron out the details. Once everything is set (booking fee paid, agreement signed, onboarding complete), then you might not hear from me for a bit.
When we are one month out from our start date, I will reach out. From there, communication will occur regularly.
For updates during the editing process, I will touch base weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your preference.
-
No.
All I ask is that you let me know beforehand if there is anything in your manuscript that you believe most people would find deeply unsettling.

Generative AI, no. Assistive AI, yes.
If I discover that your manuscript was written, fully or partially, with the use of gen-AI, I will enact the termination clause in our contract.
Assistive AI includes programs like Grammarly and ProWritingAid.
